PIERRE, SD – Gov. Dennis Daugaard says the weather cooperated so this spring’s flooding in eastern South Dakota was not as bad as had been predicted. Daugaard says flooding along the Big Sioux River was limited because the snow melted slowly and not much snow or rain fell in late March. However, the governor says flooding is still bad at Lakes Poinsett, Thompson and Kampeska. Daugaard drove through five counties with local officials last week. He says he saw flooded roads, destroyed bridges and swollen lakes in Hand, Spink, Hamlin, Kingsbury and Beadle counties
