City Commission Quick Hits For March 28th

The Huron City Commission met Monday night at the Huron Municipal Building. The bid by B-and-B Contracting of Aberdeen was approved to install a sanitary sewer force main going out to the city’s waste water lagoons. 12 companies made bids on the project. Ferguson Electric of Huron was awarded the bid to install L-E-D light packs in the underground parking garage at the Crossroads and decorative lights in the downtown area. Commissioners approved an application for the abatement of property taxes on a property on Riverview Drive. Beadle County needed the City to approve the request so the County could fix the tax issue with the property. The Commission was presented with the 2010 unaudited financial statements. The formal audit will begin in June and hope to have the final audit numbers by September 30th. Todd Sorenson was hired as a part-time Pro-Shop attendant. The Commission went into executive session then held a work session for a quarterly review of the capital assets budget and department debt service.
