Johnson, Noem win GOP Primary Races

Voter turn out was 18.56% in Beadle County as voters went to the polls yesterday to decide primary elections and a ballot question that would make changes to Marsy’s Law.

The two eventual winners in yesterday’s Republican primary, Dusty Johnson and Kristi Noem, also received the majority of the votes in Beadle County.

In the race for the GOP nomination for US House, Johnson picked up 47% of the vote, followed by 29% for Shantel Krebs and 24% for Neal Tapio.

Gubernatorial candidate Noem received 57% of the vote in Beadle County while 43% went to Attorney General Marty Jackley.

Beadle County voters overwhelmingly supported Amendment Y which amends the state constitution to revise certain provisions of Marsy’s Law. The amendment passed in South Dakotawith 80% of the vote.

1,831 ballots were cast in Beadle County on Tuesday.
