SDNG Solider Guilty Of Watertown Rape

A Watertown man who serves in the South Dakota Army National Guard will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to raping a 15 year-old girl.  Codington County State’s Attorney Dawn Elshere says 35 year-old Scott Long entered the plea Wednesday to two counts of Fourth Degree Felony Rape, and one count of Felony Sexual Exploitation of a Child.  Elshere says the crimes occurred between September and December of last year.  Judge Ronald Roehr ordered a pre-sentence investigation, and set sentencing for April 20th at 10:00 am.  Long is free on bond pending his sentencing.  Major Brendan Murphy of the South Dakota National Guard confirms Long is a member of the Guard, but would not release any other information regarding his status.
