2010 State Fair Reviewed For City Commission

State Fair Manager Jerome Hetel reviewed the 2010 South Dakota State Fair for Huron City Commissioners Monday night. In his semi-annual report to the Commission, Hertel says most every aspect of the Fair saw increases….

Sponsorships saw a 10 to 11 percent increase. Vendors on the fair were up two-percent with 398 vendors on the grounds. Hertel says a lack of space for vendors on the Fairgrounds is the only thing hold growth of vendors down. The number of vendors is at a 10 to 11 year high. The Fair, a part of the State Agriculture Department, is too feel Governor Dennis Daugaard’s budget cuts. despite making money…

The State Fair is looking to lose just over 30-thousand dollars in funding because of Daugaard’s cuts. The Fair has seen total sales taxes collected from 2006 to 2010 increase by 99-point-seven percent.
