Two Men Sought in Connection with Watertown Stabbing Could be in Huron Area

In response to the ongoing investigation into the alleged stabbing death of Kristopher Spotts Monday night in Watertown, the Codington County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two persons of interest and are seeking the public’s help in locating them.

Both are adult males.

Johnny Martin Koenig Jr age 19 , 6’ 2”, 220lbs.  Koenig is Native American, and has lived in the Pierre area.

The second person is Andres Ramon Morena age 19, possibly Native American.

Both individuals are believed to possibly be in the Huron area.

If you see either of these individuals please contact local law enforcement immediately.

Just before 10 o’clock this morning, 38 year-old Jeremy Steinberg of Watertown was arrested without incident by sheriff’s deputies, Watertown police, South Dakota Highway Patrolmen and agents with the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation.

Steinberg is charged with Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault, He’s being held in the Codington County Detention Center on $750,000 bond.

Codington County Sheriff Brad Howell has not disclosed the events that led up to the stabbing. He calls it an, “isolated incident,” and he says Spotts and Steinberg were acquaintances.
