Attempt to Enter Iroquois School Building a Mistake, Not a Threat

A tense situation near the end of the school day in Iroquois Wednesday can be chalked up to an honest mistake.

Superintendent Mike Ruth says yesterday afternoon he was informed that someone had tried to gain access to the school building around 2:40 pm through the west doors.

The sense of unease was compounded by the fact that school would soon be dismissing for the day.

Ruth says the man has been identified and he wasn’t a threat to students or staff.

Ruth says it is important that visitors enter the school through the proper doors.

Ruth says like most schools, Iroquois has a buzzer system that allows access to the building provided staff can identify the person.
