Christen Appointed to Science and Technology Authority

Gov. Dennis Daugaard has appointed Huron businessman Paul Christen to the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority. Christen fills a vacancy created by the death of Dave Bozied of Sioux Falls, a charter member and former chairman of the Authority.  Christen and his wife, “Muffy,” started the First Western Bank chain in 1976. They sold the 17 banks in western South Dakota in 2008 and currently own First Western Agency, an insurance company group headquartered in Huron.  Terms on the seven-member South Dakota Science and Engineering Authority are for six years and require state Senate confirmation.
