HURON, SD – A Huron man facing a second-degree murder charge is due in court. Attorneys on Tuesday were set to argue motions in the case of Edwin Thompson. He’s accused of stomping on 21-year-old Ryan Treadway in a November 2009 fight, causing fatal head injuries. A judge late last year ruled that Thompson was mentally competent to stand trial, after experts said his schizophrenic paranoia had improved with medications. The trial is set to begin March 23. Thompson could face life in prison without parole if convicted.
