Names Released in Fatal Highway 14 Crash

A 6-year-old boy has died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday, March 7, three miles east of Brookings.

A 2009 Toyota Corolla was westbound on U.S. Highway 14 when the driver lost control on the ice-covered roads. The vehicle slid across the center line into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2002 International 9400 semi truck.

All three passengers in the Toyota were injured. Ethan Rosa of Aurora, S.D., who sustained life-threatening injuries, died this past weekend in a Sioux Falls hospital. The other passenger, a 10-month-old male, also received life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized in Sioux Falls. The 27-year-old female driver suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.

The 44-year-old male driver of the semi was not injured.

All four occupants were wearing seatbelts.
