Two children receive life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident
on an icy Highway 14 three miles east of Brookings. It happened at about
5:50 Wednesday evening.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says a westbound car driven
by a 27-year-old woman lost control on the ice, slid across the center
line and collided with a semi truck driven by a 44-year-old man.
The semi driver was not hurt. The woman driving the car received
non-life threatening injuries.
Two passengers in the car, a six-year-old boy and a 10-month-old boy,
received life threatening injuries.
The three injured were taken by ambulance to the Brookings hospital.
Names are not being released and there are no charges pending against
either driver.
