South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says he supports the Trump administration’s lawsuit challenging the state of California’s sanctuary laws.
Jackley says the murder of a Mitchell teenager in 2009 by Alexander Salgado should make the issue personal for South Dakota. He says the murder wouldn’t have happened with proper immigration policy.
Salgado is serving life in prison for the murder.
Jackley calls Justice Department’s legal action “a step in the right direction”.
