Great Lakes Flight Originating In Huron Makes Emergency Landing At Pierre

PIERRE, SD – A Great Lakes Aviation plane landed safely at the Pierre airport after smoke was reported in the cockpit.  Authorities say the 19-passenger Beachcraft with six passengers on board was on its way from Huron to Pierre, with a final destination of Denver. The crew declared an emergency Thursday afternoon because of the smoke.  A spokesman for the Pierre Airport Firefighting Rescue Station says it appears the smoke came from a pilot headset that malfunctioned.
