SDHDA Awards $9 Million for Affordable Housing in South Dakota

South Dakotans’ will be seeing additional housing development and preservation across the state. South Dakota Housing Development Authority’s Board of Commissioners approved the award of more than $9 million in funding for housing activities.

The developments will receive $2.7 million in Housing Tax Credits, $3.7 million in HOME Investment Partnership Program funds, $1.2 million in Housing Opportunity Funds and $1.4 million in Housing Trust Funds.  

The 21 projects funded will provide South Dakotans with 249 newly constructed multifamily housing units, four single-family homes, 30 rehabilitated multifamily housing units, and assistance with homelessness prevention, homeowner rehabilitation and downpayment and closings costs.

Various sites in Beadle, Spink and Kingsbury counties will receive funds through the BASEC Grant/Loan Program.

This funding, in the amount of $131,250, will be used for a homeowner rehabilitation program that will assist 25 families living in Beadle, Spink and Kingsbury counties at or below 115 percent of the area median income.
