Burn Ban Lifted in Beadle County

The Beadle County Office of Emergency Management announces that after discussion during the Beadle County Commission meeting Thursday June 29, 2017, the burn ban, in place since June 9th, 2017 has been lifted.

This decision came not only after discussion with the Commission, but after referencing the US Drought Monitor and consultation with area fire departments. All Beadle County Fire Departments have given support to lifting the burn ban.

That being said, the Fire Departments encourage you use “smart behavior” in relation to controlled burns and use of fire. With the approaching 4th of July holiday, county residents are asked to enjoy fireworks responsibly by being aware of the conditions of the area they are using fireworks. Have a reliable extinguishing source nearby and remember that even if the burn ban is lifted, you may still be responsible for the costs of putting out a fire caused by your negligence.

Those wishing to engage in controlled burning are reminded they are still required to call in details of the controlled burn to the Huron Police Department dispatch center at 353-8550.
