Commissioners Approve Proposal to Complete 24th Street SE Project

City Commissioners approved a proposal to work with JSA Engineers and Land Surveyors to complete work on 24th Street SE from Idaho Avenue SE to Frank Avenue SE.

The street will be adjacent to the Wheatgrass Village site.

JSA will complete an asphalt surfaced local street section with concrete curb & gutter, sidewalks and associated grading.

Other improvements will include sanitary sewer main, water main and storm sewer.

City engineer Mike Wever, who has submitted his resignation, recommended approval of the proposal

The estimated cost for design and construction plans is $16,000.

Also last night commissioners, convening as the Board of Adjustment approved four variance requests, but denied a request by Clyde Mason. Mason was requesting to construct a garage at 164 Rushmore NW using corrugated sheet metal roofing and siding with exposed fasteners. Code only allows standing seam/ architectural steel on residential structures in an area zoned R-2 (One Family Residential District).

The request failed on a 3-2 vote. Variance requests require four affirmative votes.
