NWS Surveys Storm Damage

Two National Weather Service assessment teams are out in the field today surveying storm damage from last night’s severe weather.

Kelly Serr  is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the Weather Service in Aberdeen

She says with a tornado, you look for signs of twisting, or rotational damage.

Serr says they’ve already confirmed two tornadoes from last night—one southwest of Zell in Hand County, and another just south of Groton.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Automated equipment recorded a 92 mile an hour straight line wind gust just southeast of Clark.

A peak wind gust of 57 miles per hour was recorded at the Huron Airport. Minor property damage was reported.
