HRMC’s May Mammogram Promotion Encourages Early Detection

In celebration of moms, Huron Regional Medical Center is offering free daisies and a chance to win to women who schedule a mammogram between May 1 through May 12.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, second to lung cancer. Early detection increases the chance of survival.

To encourage women to learn their risk for breast cancer, HRMC is offering free daisies to women who call to schedule a screening mammogram between May 1 and May 12. The actual mammogram appointment can occur between May 1 and October 31, 2017.

Anyone who schedules a mammogram during the month of May will also be entered for a chance to win a pampering package including a manicure, pedicure and massage or six seasonal floral bouquet deliveries. Women who refer a friend will receive a second entry into the drawing.

For women worried about the cost of a mammogram, the HRMC Foundation We’ve Got You Covered fund, HRMC provides FREE mammograms to women in need:

• who are age 40-64

• who are under age 40 and at higher risk for cancer

• who have not had a mammogram in two years, and

• who do not have insurance/insurance does not cover

HRMC’s digital mammography uses safe, low doses of X-rays to image the inside of breasts and computer-aided detection (CAD) provides a “second read” of the mammogram by a computer to assist the radiologist in making an accurate diagnosis. HRMC’s digital mammography system is fast, yet ultra-sensitive, and generally only takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
