The City takes one of the two vehicles and assigns it to the Finance Department to be used as a fleet vehicle for all city employees. Meanwhile the previous fleet vehicle is then put to use as a police unit. Meyer expects the cars to be replaced by the new units to have over 100-thousand miles on them. Meyer says the Fords are holding up well….

Commissioner Bryan Smith made a motion to allow Meyer to order two police vehicles in whatever combination he wants, giving Meyer the flexibility to buy two S-U-V’s, two sedans or one of each. Meyer said he would informally poll officers to see what they would prefer, but ventured most would prefer the S-U-V. The new cars, once ordered could take up to four months to be delivered.
