T-shirts with the slogan “Springs Strong” were sold for 10 dollars with all proceeds from that and a free will offering going to help the town of Delmont, stuck by a similar EF-2 twister that hit on Mother’s Day, May 10th. Delmont Mayor Mae Gunnare led a delegation from her community to take in the event. She took part in a walk of the damage path through Wessington Springs, and got to see what recovery from a tornado is all about…

The National Guard obstacle course, a dunk tank and bounce house were available for kids to play with. The Wessington Springs and Alpena Fire Departments battled in a watermelon eating contest and the night ended with a moment of silence at 7:47 PM, the moment the tornado entered town followed by children releasing yellow and blue balloons into the calm evening sky.  The amount of money raised for Delmont was not available.
