City Commission Meets Tonight

City CommissionThe Huron City Commission goes back to work tonight after having last week off for the Memorial Day holiday. The Commission will gather as the Board of Adjustments, to consider a variance request for the construction of a four-season porch, which will exceed the 30-percent rule for the percentage of structures on a property. When the City Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will consider two payment requests and a change order for various city infrastructure projects. A public hearing is scheduled for 2015-2016 malt beverage and South Dakota Farm Wine license applications. The Commission will also consider authorizing the Mayor and City Planner to sign an amendment to a state Historical Preservation Allocation award. Two ordinances get their second and final readings tonight. The ordinances will make changes to fencing and the number of people who may sit on the Huron Park and Recreation Board. Commissioners will consider appointments to various city boards and committees and will authorize the Park and Recreation Department to apply for West Nile Prevention Funding through the state Department of Health. Discussions are also scheduled regarding mosquito control and the Board of Adjustments. There are no scheduled work sessions, however there is an executive session for a contractual matter. The Huron City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 PM at the Huron Municipal Building. The meeting is open to the public.
