The South Dakota Department of Tourism has several accomplishments recently, including the National Mercury Award for the best print advertising piece. Secretary of Tourism, Jim Hagen, was named State Tourism Director of the Year by the U.S. Travel Association. He says that the department has been working hard to boost tourism around the state…..
Hagen says that it’s still too early to know exact figures, but he feels confident that South Dakota had a good summer tourism season….
He says the tourism industry employs about 30,000 people and continues to be one of the most important industries in South Dakota.
