PIERRE, SD – The South Dakota State Historical Society is providing matching grants to historic preservation projects in Aberdeen, Iroquois, Sioux Falls and the Woonsocket area. Society director Jay Vogt says it’s the 16th year for the historic preservation grants program, and the society last year awarded more than $126,000 toward 11 projects. The program aims to encourage restoration or rehabilitation of historic properties. The grants include: $16,000 for stained glass window repair at the Brown County Courthouse in Aberdeen, $16,000 for roof replacement and window restoration at the Bank of Iroquois Building, $16,000 to remove paving stones, lay a concrete subsurface and relay the pavers for Quartzite Paver Alley in Sioux Falls and $16,000 for repairs and reinforcement of the stone foundation and roof replacement for the L.P. Nielson Barn near Woonsocket
