Lawyers in the John LeGrand murder case go back to the courtroom today to determine what affect three medications may have had on the Sturgis man when he signed a plea deal earlier this year. Circuit Judge Vince Foley appointed Dr. Lyle Christopherson to answer questions from both the prosecution and defense.on whether or not the medications LeGrand was on may have impaired his ability to properly understand the plea agreement he signed. LeGrand claims to have been pressured by his attorneys to sign the plea and then told Foley things seemed “foggy” when he did sign the deal. The results of today’s hearing will help Foley decide whether to accept LeGrand’s motion to withdraw his plea. If Foley denies the motion to withdraw the guilty plea, LeGrand will be sentenced at a later date. LeGrand’s motion to withdraw the plea came on the day he was originally scheduled to be sentenced for shooting Ricardo “RJ” Hein four times with a shotgun at LeGrand’s then home in the Prairie Villa Mobile Home Park
