West Nile Cases Rising In South Dakota

Human West Nile virus cases continue to climb in South Dakota and a
health official is urging residents to protect themselves.  The state has the highest number of human West Nile cases in the nation as well as the highest number of the more serious neuroinvasive cases.  That according to state epidemiologist, Lon Kightlinger.  As of last Monday, South Dakota had reported 21 human West Nile cases, followed by California with 18. In addition to wearing mosquito repellents, Kightlinger says you should
limit exposure by wearing pants and long sleeves in the evening. You
should also limit time outdoors from dusk to midnight and get rid of
standing water.
