Severe Storms Cause Power Outages In Doland/Conde Areas

Severe storms moved through parts of the area this morning leading to at least one power outage. Northwestern Energy’s Tom Glanzer says power was reported out in the Conde area around 4:30 this morning. The Mellette and Doland areas also experienced power outages around the same time. Law enforcement in Spink County reported to the National Weather Service in Aberdeen that a tree had been blown down into a power line near Doland at 3:45 AM. Northwestern has not confirmed that report as the reason for the Doland/Conde area power outage. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued around 2:30 this morning for northern portions of Hand and Hyde Counties. The line of storms that extended from near the North Dakota border to Interstate 90 had weakened below severe limits as they moved through the Huron area. A peak wind gust of 43 miles an hour was reported as the storms moved into Huron at the Huron Regional Airport. A 57 mile an hour wind gust was reported in Clark at 4:15 this morning. A 67 mile an hour gust was reported as the storms moved through the Gettysburg area Andover reported a 71 mile an hour gust. A final severe thunderstorm warning was issued for eastern Clark County at 4:30 AM. The storm moved out of Clark County by five AM
