MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — Police in Mitchell arrested a 54-year-old resident suspected of voting twice in Tuesday’s school board election. Craig Guymon was arrested on charges of voter fraud. Police say Guymon voted Tuesday morning at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy and later returned an absentee ballot to the Davison Auditor’s Office. Guymon has long been known in Mitchell as a vocal critic of school officials and had previously run for the school board on multiple occasions. Guymon was booked at the jail and released on a personal recognizance bond. Huron attorney Ron Volesky is representing Guymon in the matter. Volesky is the husband of school board candidate Tara Volesky who lost her bid for a seat on the Mitchell School Board during Tuesday’s election. Guymon endorsed Tara Volesky and Rod Hall in a paid ad that appeared in last Saturday’s Mitchell Daily Republic. The charge is a felony carrying a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
