Recycling Start-Up Could Be Delayed Waiting On Equipment

The start of Huron’s recycling program is lying with the delivery of pieces to make the effort happen. The Huron City Commission approved bids for containers, a live bottom trailer and a truck for picking up the containers. A pick-up truck bid was also approved. McGirr confirmed at the end of the meeting the containers would be available in the first part of June. Commissioner Kerwin Haeder says the city could get around the lack of a recycling truck by using an existing garbage truck for temporary duty.

Approximately 650 people have signed up for the program. The goal for participants is1000.
