Colon Cancer Awareness Month

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and this year in South Dakota, about 430 new cases of colon cancer will be diagnosed, with more than 150 deaths expected.  Denise Kolba, Health Care Partnerships Director with the American Cancer Society, said that while this is a highly preventable disease if caught early, new data shows South Dakotans aren’t taking the message seriously…

Other ways to reduce the risk include being physically active for 30 minute or more a day, avoid drinking in excess, limit red meat consumption, maintain a healthy weight, and quit smoking.
