Area Counties Now Under Winter Weather Advisory Until 7 PM

Parts of the area are getting a sampling of winter today. A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7 PM tonight for sustained winds of 30 to 40 miles an hour and gusts to 50 miles an hour or greater. Beadle, Kingsbury, Jerauld,  Sanborn,  Buffalo Hand and Hyde counties have joined Spink and Clark counties in a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 tonight. Accumulation of snow across those areas could be up to 3 inches by the time the storm ends. Our weather is on the back side of a massive storm system moving across the country that has blizzard conditions in parts of North Dakota, created a line of tornado warnings yesterday 850 miles long that extended across 6 states from Michigan to Arkansas and caused some of the lowest ever barometric pressure readings from a non-tropical storm.
