CARTHAGE, SD – A Carthage man died in a crash in rural Miner County in eastern South Dakota. The Highway Patrol says 37-year-old Lonny Schlim died at midday Friday when his pick-up truck collided head-on with one of two semitrailers that had passed one another on a gravel road. The patrol says the driver of the semi was not hurt. Authorities say dust might have made it difficult for the drivers to see.
