DCI Looking Into Lottery And ATM Thefts In Hand And Five Other Counties

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the  burglaries of video lottery and ATM machines in six eastern SD counties.  Sara Rabern with the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office says the series of burglaries began in late August with the most recent report coming Monday.  Six known burglaries have occurred in Day, Grant, Hand, Gregory, McPherson and Charles Mix counties.  Rabern says the crimes are being committed shortly after 2am and there are some similar characteristics.The Division of Criminal Investigation and local law enforcement ask the public and small business owners to be cognizant of suspicious activity in their communities. Business owners are encouraged to check the security procedures in their establishments.  Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to their local law enforcement agency immediately.
