Farmer Protection Tackled By PUC Candidates Saturday

The five candidates running for two open spots on the Public Utilities Commission, gave their thoughts on failure of Anderson Seeds in Redfield at a debate Saturday at the South Dakota State Fair. Current P-U-C member Chris Nelson says the three member commission will propose a five step plan to the legislature this year to protect grain buyers

Kristie Feigen, whose spot on the PUC is up for grabs for a six-year term says in 2008 and nine, the legislature did work on some legislation to protect farmers with grain purchases or ethanol plants…

At the conclusion of debate, former Democratic Presidential candidate George McGovern spoke to the crowd and complimented all of the candidates on the job they did at the debate and said the debate gave him a much clearer idea of what the Public Utilities Commission was all about.
