The Western Area Power Administration says it’s approved the interconnection of two wind farms in southeast South Dakota into its transmission system. Basin Electric Power Cooperative plans to build a wind farm with 101 turbines north of White Lake. South Dakota Wind Partners wants to build a publicly invested wind farm nearby that would have seven turbines. Both want to feed the power to WAPA, which is part of the U.S. Energy Department and distributes electricity generated from Missouri River dams
