Five Arrested In Drug Raids

Five adults are in the Beadle County Jail following a swift operation involving two SWAT teams in Huron Monday. The Huron Police Department’s Special Response Team and South Dakota Highway Patrol’s Alpha Team executed four narcotics search warrants around the noon hour in the blistering 98 degree heat. The search warrants were conducted based on information from an ongoing D-C-I Investigation.  South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation agents seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana, methamphetamine and cash from the residences. Police Chief Gary Will estimated between five and ten thousand dollars worth of meth, marijuana and other items were taken by authorities. Assisting the Huron Police, D-C-I and Highway Patrol were law enforcement officers from the Beadle and Jerauld County Sheriff’s office. The arrests are not connected to recent burglaries in Beadle, Jerauld, Sanborn and possibly Davison and Lake Counties. The involvement of Jerauld County authorities is unknown, however Jerauld County does have a drug detecting K-9 unit. There is no word on if the Jerauld County drug dog was used in the operations. Due to the ongoing investigation further details are being withheld at the present time.
