A Heat Advisory has been posted by the National Weather Service for Huron and points West and South. The Heat Advisory is posted until 8 PM for Beadle, Jerauld, Sanborn, Hand, Hyde, Buffalo, Davison, Hanson, Aurora and Brule Counties. Heat index numbers this afternoon will easily go triple digit for a number of consecutive hours today. The combination of hot temperatures, combined with high humidity, will create at situation where heat illnesses are possible. Your advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning if possible, stay out of the sun and check up on vulnerable relatives and neighbors. The forecasted high air temp for Huron is 97 with heat indexes up to 100 degrees or more. Wessington Springs could see 99 for a high with a heat index of 102. Miller could also see 99 with a heat index of 103, Woonsocket could see 98 with a 101 heat index and Highmore could see 101 for a high with heat index of 105 degrees.
