After a trip to the armory where the class viewed some of the firearms they will have an opportunity to fire on Saturday, they returned back to the City Commission Chambers to hear the basics of the Department’s Special Response Team from Team Leader, Sergeant Brandon Neitztert. Neitzert says one day changed the way Special Response and SWAT Teams conduct business..

After Nietzert’s presentation the class returned upstairs for a closer look at S-R-T equipment from balistic jackets, to flash-bang gernades, to a battering ram complete with a smiley face. Students gave information to begin to prepare for their optional ride-along assignments. Johnson says he wants students to have a day shift and night shift ride so they can experience the diffrences from AM to PM. Next up for the class is Firearms practice at the Police Department’s gun range on Saturday.
