A Plankinton woman is working hard to become a player for the Democratic nod to take on Republican Representative Kristie Noem. Linda Heath says the first challenge is finding enough registered Democrats to sign petitions to get her on the Democratic primary ballot. Heath says Congress needs to start doing things to help strengthen the lower income population through programs at the very grass roots level. She says South Dakota should elect someone who is in the midst of the same day to day struggles that the people who earn the lowest amounts understand and in are living with right now. Heath would like to create a hiring program where people who owe federal debt like taxes or school loans can fill available federal jobs and create a hiring loan forgiveness program for students of building trades. According to a pamphlet of information Heath passed out at a fast food restaurant and bowling alley in Huron Thursday evening. Heath has worked generally more than one job most of her life and is currently part-time employed in jobs in the service and hospitality industries. Matt Varilek and Jeff Barth are also in the running to be the Democrat’s choice to take on Noem in November.
