The Huron City Commission gets back to work tonight after an off week last week for Presidents day. Commissioners will consider awarding a scrap iron recycling bid that was deferred to this week and accept quotes for moving radio equipment from Winter Tower to Frank Tower. The Commission will consider approval of the Huron Chamber’s latest special event alcohol license for their next Chamber Mixer and get semi-annual updates from the Beadle County Humane Society and Huron Senior Center. The Commission will also consider authorizing the Mayor to sign grant application and consider two items relating to the South Dakota Wheat Growers Operation. Commissioners will also hear update on the South Dakota Department of Transportation plan to do work on U.S. Highway 14 just west of Huron. The Commission will hear second readings of the Hobby Farm and Bed and Breakfast ordinances and consider two resolutions., before considering recommendations to hire three volunteer firefighters and consider appointments to the Community Gardens Committee. Huron City Commissioners will meet in executive session for three items. The Huron City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 PM and the meeting is open to the public.
