3-D Printers Being Used to Make Ear Saver’s for Emergency Workers
HURON, S.D. – April 14, 2020 – The Beadle County Unified COVID-19 Task Force would like to thank the public for their continued assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with their creativity side.
Trussbilt in Huron has been using their 3-D printer to make “ear savers”. The ear saver is designed to take strain off an individual’s ears, while wearing an N-95 face mask for extended amounts of time. The ear savers have currently been provided to healthcare workers, first responders and the Beadle County COVID-19 testing facility.
Trussbilt has worked to expand the number they can make daily. Trussbilt is currently using the Huron Public Library’s 3-D printer and Bob Kalmbach from the Huron Amateur Radio Club has volunteered to make ear savers on his home 3-D printer as well. With all the resources they are making over 100 ear savers each day.
The Task Force continues to thank all our community members that continue to support each other during this challenging period of disruption.
