Since it opened Memorial Day weekend the Splash Central Water Park in Huron has been missing something…it’s 50-meter, Olympic-style competition pool. Huron Public Works Director Mike Wever says crews have been working long hours to get the “big pool” ready for use….
The repairs were required when cracks were discovered in the floor of the 12-foot end of the competition pool. The cracks were caused when pumps and valves designed to move ground water under the pool away from the pool failed, causing water pressure to build upward against the floor, cracking it. The cracks could have been patched and repaired in the fall, but contractors and engineers wanted to fix the problem right away.
