The Huron City Commission has agreed to included funding of around 5000-dollars in next year’s budget to establish Helpline 211 in Beadle County. The United Way and Beadle County have both pledged similar amounts of money. Helpline Center Executive Director Janet Kittams-Lalley says the number 211 was set aside back in 2000 nationwide….
She says the number would be active 24 hours a day….
South Dakota is one of six states in the country that does not offer statewide 211 service….
The 5000-dollars would be a yearly request. The number is based on population, so the dollar amount yearly may fluctuate slightly. The program is expected to come on line for Beadle County in 2016.
