211 Helpline Aims to Increase Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Rates

The 211 Helpline Center has teamed with the South Dakota Department of Health through the All Women Count! program to increase screenings rates for cervical and breast cancer.

All Women Count! helps cover the cost of screenings for women who meet the program’s criteria

Nichole Gjoraas with the Helpline Center says the new Health Navigator program is aimed at women who are uninsured or under insured.

In addition to making callers aware of the All Women Count! Program, Gjoraas says 211 operators can also help schedule appointments with local providers.

The 211 Helpline helps people access various resources in their communities ranging from suicide prevention to food pantries.

It is currently available in 16 counties across the state, including Beadle County.
