A bill vague on details to defund the Huron School District has been pulled by the lawmaker who brought it, Representative Phil Jensen of Rapid City. Jensen says he brought the bill after a tip to him that the Huron School District allows “boys in girls restrooms”.

Questions continue about why Jensen filed the bill originally. An online post from January in iWfeatures, an independent womens forum, spoke about a South Dakota father who took on the school board to protect his twin daughter from incidents involving a transgender. According to the article an incident involving a girl and a transgender student in a girls restroom occurred at Huron High School in 2023.
