Phone pledges totaling 42-thousand 362 dollars were received during the four nights of the Salvation Army Christmas Basket program this week. Proceeds raised during the program will now go toward supplying Christmas Food Baskets for less fortunate families in Beadle County and surrounding areas including Wessington Springs, De Smet, Alpena, Miller and Tulare. Those who have made pledges to the program are reminded to send their pledges to the Huron Salvation Army, P-O Box 1362, Huron, South Dakota five-seven-three-five-zero. Officials ask you write “Christmas Basket Program” on the envelope or check. For those in need of assistance this holiday season, today is the final day the Salvation Army is taking applications for Christmas Food Baskets and Angel Tree gifts. Applications must be made in person at the Salvation Army from one to three P-M. Your asked to bring identification, proof of residency, verification of income and expenses, also needed is food stamp amounts and proof of all family members, even if you have applied in the past. Applications can be made at the Salvation Army office at 237 Illinois Ave SW.
