Monday marked the first day of pick-up for Huron’s single stream recycling program. Solid Waste Superintendent Dale Fortin told the Huron City Commission that approximately 360 Monday pick-up household have recycling containers…
Fortin says two-point-oh-three tons of recyclable goods were picked up. That number is close to what the city needs to make the program feasible…
An inspection of the recycling loads did find some violations…
Other violations included having a container out for pick-up with no materials inside. Fortin says it’s cost the city time and money to pick up empty containers and asked that they are removed until at least one-third full. So far, 11-hundred 33 households have signed up for the program. Blue and yellow recycling containers will be delivered this week to household with Tuesday solid waste collection. First pick up for recycling on Tuesday routes will be next week.
