The second year of the DARE Race Car appearing at the WISSOTA 100 in Huron netted big gains for the Huron Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program….
Huron Public Safety Director Gary Will, Jr. says the DARE program needs support like that…
Hiller’s street-legal two-seat late model race car has raised over 98-thousand dollars since 2008 for DARE programs and other charities. In his hometown of Sedalia, Missouri, Hiller and his wife Maybelle have raised as much as 12-thousand dollars and has used that to start a 500-dollar scholarship, awarded to a high school senior who has graduated from a DARE program. Will is not surprised with Hiller’s ability to raise so much money and awareness for the program…
In 2012 the DARE Race Car raised 800-dollars through 10 dollar donations for a ride in the car. This year Hiller added a basket with prizes to be raffled off. There was so much support for the basket idea that five baskets were raffled off.
102 of 150 raffle tickets were sold at 10 dollars a piece and 68 people took rides with Racecar Bob in the DARE late model this year in Huron.
