City Commission Meets Tonight

The Huron City Commission meets tonight at the Huron Municipal Building. Commissioners have two bid items for consideration tonight. Commissioners will consider approval of the Huron Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau’s request for a special event on-sale alcohol licence for the Chamber’s next Business After Hours. The Commission will consider delinquent special assessments of property in the City of Huron and an appeal by Pat Buckingham regarding a decision made by the Historic Preservation Board. The Historic Preservation Board will give a report to Commissioners on the status of a proposed ordinance on Historic Preservation and will request a public hearing be set for October 25th on it. The second reading of an ordinance regulating outdoor beer gardens is tonight. The Commission will also consider setting fees for any new beer gardens by resolution. Commissioners will also be presented with the 2009 audited financials and will consider surplussing and establishing an appraisal board for the sale of a handgun in the Police Department. The Commission will not meet next week for Native American Day and will announce the garbage collection schedule for next week as well. The commission will meet in executive session for two items then hold work sessions on the Waste to Energy Study and Sidewalk presentation. The Huron City Commission meeting is open to the public and begins tonight at 5:30 PM
