The Huron City Commission will go through its annual re-organizational meeting tonight. It begins with the swearing in of Commissioner Mark Robish, who ran un-opposed for his spot on the City Commission. Once Robish is set for another three year term, the Commission will meet as the Board of Adjustments to hear a variance request by Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. The church is looking to install a digital reader board sign that is larger than allowed by code. When the Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will consider a Quit Claim Deed transferring ownership of a lot in the Broadland Creek Industrial Park from the City of Huron to the Greater Huron Development Corporation. The Commission will consider five departmental items related to the annual re-organization of the City Commission. Commissioners will consider dissolving the Huron Water Board and will consider a resignation from the Community Improvement Committee. Two Human resource items are up for consideration along with approval of the Police Department policy manual. The Commission will also consider authorizing Mayor Dave McGirr to sign a grant agreement regarding work on the Campbell Park band shell and to be the Environmental Certifying Officer for HUD funding being received through the Interlakes Community Action Partnership. The Huron City Commission will also hold a work session starting at 7 PM regarding proposed Rental Housing provisions. The Huron City Commission meets tonight at 530 PM and that meeting is open to the public.
