1-3 Inches of Snow Possible in Huron Area

A storm packing wintry weather will track across the state Thursday and Friday.

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says the heaviest snowfall should occur west of the James River.

The Huron area could see between 1-3 inches of snow.

Precipitation will start as rain Thursday transitioning to a wintry mix through Thursday evening, as much colder air spreads across the region. As temperatures fall below freezing late Thursday, periods of freezing drizzle may create a light glaze of icing.

Light snow accumulations are likely at times through Friday.

Northwest winds of 35 to 50 mph on Friday could create patchy blowing and drifting snow.

Hand and Spink counties are currently included in a Winter Storm Watch from late Thursday afternoon through Friday night.

At this time, Beadle County is not included in any watches or advisories.
